CEDAR RAPIDS:  Ruth K. Wachal, age 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Corridor Crossing Place in Cedar Rapids, with her family by her side.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.

Ruth was born on September 20, 1930, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Hans and Gertrud Holzberger.  Ruth had attended Dress Making School "Seamstress School" from 1947 until 1950 while in Germany.

She met and married Marvin Wachal of Walker, Iowa on July 3, 1950, in Berlin, while he was serving in the U.S. Army.  The couple returned to Iowa later in 1950.  Ruth enjoyed crafts and attending craft fairs, owning her business, Designs by Ruth.  She liked to winter at their home in Port Richey, Florida until her health prevented her from going.

She is survived by her son Jeff (Diane) Wachal; daughter Patricia Chapel; grandchildren, Hans (Jamie) Wachal, Chase Wachal, Easton (Dillon) Kuda, Trend (Shannon) Ray, Tanya Ray, Amber Arnold, Sumer (Jeff) Jenney; great-grandchildren, Emily, Kylie, Tyler, Wyatt, Walker, Kinnick, Kammie, Auston, Tegan, Jaxon, Dene', Christyonna, Tajiah, Sutton, Hunter, and Savannah; great-great grandchildren, Sarai & Sveah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin in 1999; sister Goetta; and her son-in-law Randy Chapel.
