He was born in Postville, Iowa, on July 11, 1963. The oldest of five children, he attended Valley High School in Elgin, Iowa. He was always a hard worker, and took a lot of pride in whatever he did. He did dry walling hanging, finishing, and painting for most of his life. He had also worked as a mechanic, and did electrical work. Since the windstorm in 2011, he was employed by Elwick Electric, in Vinton, which he often said was the most enjoyable job he had ever had.
Scott loved motorcycles. He liked to work on them, and most of all, loved to ride them. He met and made a lot of good friends though the bikes. He also had a big soft spot for kids and animals. The past few years he enjoyed volunteering for the local INNER CITY SLICKERS program for at-risk youth, and did a little fundraising for the Vinton-Shellsburg Special Olympics program. He had a horse, and enjoyed trail riding with Becky, and he really loved his dogs.
