Shane Michael Kaiser, 56, of Keystone, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Born May 6, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mike Kaiser and Linda Meyer, Shane grew up in Benton County with dirt under his fingernails and a work ethic that never left him. He put down roots in Keystone, where he built a life and a business he was proud of.

Shane graduated from Benton Community High School in 1988, and by the time most kids were still figuring out what they wanted to do, Shane already knew: he climbed into a grain truck at 18 and never looked back. That early start grew into his own trucking business, one he built from the ground up through long hours, hard work, and sheer stubbornness.

It was a blind date in July 2001 that brought Shane and Michelle together, and it clearly worked. They were married a few years later on March 27, 2004. Together they created a home in Keystone and raised their children, Ashley and Tyler Steele, whom Shane loved and treated as his very own from the start.

Shane had a big personality and an even bigger sense of humor. He was well known and well loved around Keystone and beyond. Shane was quick-witted and famously stubborn. Outside of work, he loved being outdoors, planting and landscaping around his home, golfing with his daughter, and spending Friday nights at the shop with his friends. As he grew older, he cherished his time spent at home with Michelle and their pets.

Shane was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Meyer; his aunts, Kathy Plaht and Judy Pieper; and his grandparents, John and Darlene Meyer, and Louis and Joanne Kaiser, and most recently he lost his companion and beloved dog, Oliver.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Kaiser; his daughter, Ashley Steele; his son, Tyler Steele (Dan Roemerman); his father, Mike Kaiser (Lorie); his sister, Jackie Seeck (Ben); his brother, Zach Kaiser (Collette Barns); as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Josey and Marshall, and cats, George and Bluey.

Shane will be remembered for his hard work, his humor, and the life he built with his family in Keystone.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, Iowa. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial funds to be given to the family.
