GARRISON: Sondra Harrelson, 84, passed away Monday, 6/1/26, at La Porte City Specialty Care Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, 6/13/26 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hickory Shelter in Hickory Hills Park (3338 Hickory Hills Rd, La Porte City).

Sondra was born on 8/20/1941 in Iowa City to Fay and Marian (Lane) Lindsey. She was united in marriage to Merlyn Harrelson on 1/4/1958 in Vinton.

Sondra loved Giraffes. She loved watching birds, camping, and being outside and enjoying the sun. She loved hanging out with family and shopping. She was a fan of Elvis. At Halloween she was known in Garrison as the popcorn ball lady.

She is survived by her son, Gary (Roxie) Harrelson; her grandchildren, Olivia (Caleb) Butler, Tiffanie (Jeff) Butler, Amanda (Kirk) Valentine, Amber Valentine, and Megan Anderson; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jeffery, Gunner, and Honey; and her sister, Mable Bramow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Marian; her husband, Merlyn; her children, Randy Harrelson and Sharon Valentine; her grandchild, Jason Harrelson; and her siblings, George Lindsey, Bill Lindsey, Lillian Berry, and Marie Lindsey.
