Obituary

URBANA: Tyler Jacobson, 32, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 also at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Luncheon will be held at the Urbana Legion following the service.

The family requests that memorials may be made to help the family with Tyler's funeral expenses.

Tyler Jacobson was born May 31, 1992 to John Jacobson and Sandra Venenga in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tyler attended Center Point-Urbana High School graduating with the class of 2010. Following high School Tyler attended trade school. He was employed with the Ironworkers Union Local 89 as a Journeyman Ironmaker in Cedar Rapids. He also was employed by Novak Fencing.

Tyler enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing in his pool league, classic cars, flipping cars, and spending time outdoors. Most of all Tyler cherished the time that he spent with his family and his friends.

He is survived by his parents, John (Lisa) Jacobson of Center Point, and Sandra (Tony) Kunkel of Lone Tree; his children, DezaRae Jacobson of Center Point, and Thomas McDonald of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, Cody Jacobson of Vinton, and Dillion Kibbie of Shellsburg; his paternal grandparents, Ernie (Lois) Jacobson, and his maternal grandparents Ed (Nora) Greenhaw; step-siblings, Kelsey Schulze of Center Point, Cody Schulze of Center Point, Brittney (Hailey) Mortimer of Keokuk, TJ Kunkel of Lone Tree, Lucas Kunkel of Niota, Illinois, and Seth Kunkel of Lone Tree; nieces and nephews, Ava Davis, Olivia Davis, Davina Fouarge, Renee Jacobson, and Shaylee Jacobson; aunts and uncles, Jason Jacobson, Jerri (Charles) Ondrashek, Scott Venenga, and Steve Venenga.

Tyler was preceded in death by his sister Nicole, grandpa Larry, his uncle Nick, and his cousin Sawyer Jacobson.
