Elberon: Wilma Lorriane Parizek, 89, of Elberon, passed away on May 18, 2023 at her home in Elberon.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone from 2-5 PM. Funeral Services will be held the following day on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Elberon Christian Church with Rev. Kolleen Queener officiating.
Wilma was born on February 9, 1934 in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Hans Martin and Ida Lorraine (Allshouse) Nielsen. Wilma attended high school in Vinton, graduating in 1952. Wilma was employed at the Vinton Processing Plant, Vinton Canning Factory, Budd's insurance company, Scalaway Baby Shop, many babysitting jobs, and cleaning houses. She enjoyed picking strawberries, raspberries, and working in asparagus fields. She also enjoyed working on family genealogy projects, knitting sweaters, sewing, and crocheting afgans, baby booties, prayer shawls, and newborn baby capes.
She was united in marriage to Vernon Paul Parizek on November 15, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived on the Parizek Family Farm for many years. Wilma was active in the Elberon United Methodist Church as past Recording Secretary for the church board, she was also past presidents for the Elberon United Methodist Women (known now as the Elberon Christian Church) and the Elberon American Legion Auxiliary. She is the current president of the Elberon Area Women's Club. She was also the Secretary for the Tama County Historical Society, past bookkeeper, and treasurer for Hawkeye Antique Tractor Association, member of the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; one son, Randall (Lesa) Parizek of Elberon; daughters, Rachel Parizek of Waterloo and Christy Lichty of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and 2 sons in law, Gordy Clarke of Hudson, and William King of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wanda Lastovka, and Iona Nielsen; daughters, Rita King, and Cathy Clarke and son in law Tom Lichty.
